Lakeview Academy officially unveiled its brand-new Beverly Fine Arts Center on Monday, just one day before students returned for the 2025-26 academic year. The impressive $7 million, two-story facility now serves as the centralized home for all fine arts classes and programs, accommodating students from kindergarten through 12th grade under one roof.
Head of School John Simpson explained that the school had long dreamed of creating a permanent, dedicated space for the arts. The ambitious project became reality through the collaborative efforts of Lakeview families who came together during the school's Imagine Campaign fundraising initiative. "The fact that that building is paid for is quite the blessing," Simpson said. "I am so thankful for a community that truly came together for our students at Lakeview Academy to [build] the Beverly Fine Arts Center."
The new 10,000-square-foot facility is designed to support Lakeview's expanding Fine Arts Department, which offers private piano and string instrument lessons as well as comprehensive theater classes. The building features nine dedicated classrooms, each equipped with specialized practice spaces for different programs. Before this facility opened, the school's theater department had to rely on Brenau University's Downtown Center Theatre for both productions and rehearsals.
Beyond music and theater, the Beverly Fine Arts Center also houses visual arts classrooms and includes a flexible multipurpose room that will accommodate the school's yoga classes. LA Middle School art teacher Leigh-Anne O'Brien expressed her excitement about the new space and its potential impact on student creativity. "It's such a nice space to house all of the Fine Arts Department under one roof," O'Brien said. "We can all be together, and all the students get to come over here and experience this beautiful space—[there's] so much openness to create."
The completion of the Beverly Fine Arts Center has created additional opportunities for program expansion across campus. Simpson noted that the school is already repurposing the former fine arts spaces to meet growing demand for another popular program. "Having the Beverly Fine Arts Center has also allowed us to open up some space in our Upper School," Simpson explained. "We are currently, right now, renovating that [former fine arts space] to have a state-of-the-art robotics space that will be complete by October 1."
The upcoming robotics facility will span 2,000 square feet and is being designed to support Lakeview's comprehensive robotics program, which explores various STEM-related topics including engineering, computer science, and video production. The renovated area will feature a dedicated technology classroom, a robotics practice room, a robotics workshop, an eSports room, and cutting-edge technology equipment to enhance the learning experience for students interested in these rapidly growing fields.
