A groundbreaking residential and healthcare architecture project in Rothrist, Switzerland, demonstrates how modern design can seamlessly blend with natural landscapes. The Borna Park Work and Living Community, designed by Malte Kloes Architekten, represents an innovative approach to mixed-use development that prioritizes environmental integration and community living.

Completed in 2025, the 9,999 square meter project sits within a picturesque setting surrounded by meadows, open fields, and the tree-lined Pfaffneren River. The natural environment serves as more than just a backdrop – it fundamentally shapes the identity and character of this unique residential and working community. The architects deliberately positioned the buildings to take advantage of the existing landscape features while minimizing environmental impact.

The design team, led by Malte Kloes and including Ann-Madlen Gfeller, Nicola Mahon, and Tilla Baganz, collaborated with multiple specialists to ensure the project's success. Construction management was handled by Büro für Bauökonomie, while structural engineering was provided by Caprez Ingenieure. The landscape architecture, crucial to the project's nature-integrated concept, was developed by Andres Geser Landschaftsarchitekten.

Technical systems throughout the complex were carefully planned by specialized firms. IBG Engineering managed the electrical systems, while Gruenberg & Partner handled MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) engineering. Lighting design by lightsphere creates atmospheric environments that complement both the natural surroundings and architectural elements. Building physics and acoustical engineering by BAKUS ensure optimal comfort for residents and workers.

Safety considerations were addressed through comprehensive fire protection planning by Pirmin Jung.
