Unknown perpetrators have stolen and damaged artwork along Bruchsal's Sculpture Mile, causing approximately €4,700 in damages. The incident marks the second case of vandalism to strike the outdoor art installation in the German city.
The most recent incident involved a ceramic artwork that was torn down from a tree near Damianstor in Bruchsal before being stolen by unknown individuals. According to reports, very little remains of the original ceramic piece after the vandalism. The artwork had been part of the city's public art initiative known as the Sculpture Mile.
This latest theft and destruction represents the second such incident to occur along the popular outdoor art route. The Sculpture Mile serves as an important cultural attraction for the city, featuring various artistic installations placed throughout the area for public enjoyment.
Local authorities are investigating both incidents as part of their ongoing efforts to protect the city's public art installations. The significant financial damage caused by these acts of vandalism highlights the ongoing challenges faced by municipalities in maintaining outdoor cultural displays and protecting public art from theft and destruction.
