Jeon Soyeon, leader and main rapper of K-pop group (G)I-dle, is reportedly considering parting ways with her longtime agency, Cube Entertainment, according to a local media report released Friday. However, Cube Entertainment has denied the report, stating that negotiations are still ongoing and that a final discussion regarding her contract renewal is scheduled for the end of October.
Soyeon’s current contract with Cube Entertainment is set to expire in early November, fueling speculation about her future with the agency. The rumors gained traction in August, during (G)I-dle’s concert in Seoul, where Soyeon’s altered lyrics in the song “Is This Bad B****** Number?” hinted at her impending contract expiration. She further fueled fan curiosity by exclaiming, “Who is to stop me when my deal comes to an end in November?”
As both a singer and songwriter, Soyeon has played a significant role in shaping (G)I-dle’s music and identity, making her contract status a topic of interest among fans and industry insiders. Her potential departure raises questions about the group’s direction, as she has been a driving creative force behind (G)I-dle’s success.
Currently, Jeon Soyeon and her bandmates are in the middle of their i-DOL tour, with upcoming performances in Macao and Australia, which marks the tour’s final destination. The discussions with Cube are expected to conclude before the next leg of the tour, potentially providing fans with answers about Soyeon’s future with the group.
As contract negotiations continue, fans eagerly await Cube Entertainment’s final decision, which could reshape the landscape for (G)I-dle and Soyeon’s individual career.
