The Busan Securities Museum, operated by the Korea Securities Depository, has announced a special exhibition titled Figures in Securities to celebrate its 5th anniversary. Opening on December 23, 2024, the exhibition delves into the stories of iconic individuals featured on historical securities, exploring the legacy and historical value of their achievements.

The exhibition highlights a range of notable figures whose lives and contributions are immortalized on securities. These include Colonel Sanders of KFC, J. Willard Marriott of Marriott Hotels, and Oskar Barnack, the inventor of the Leica camera. Each display pairs visually captivating securities artifacts with engaging narratives about the featured individuals and the companies they shaped.

By integrating historical and financial insights, the exhibition offers a unique perspective on the relationship between prominent figures and the growth of global industries. Visitors can explore how these individuals revolutionized their respective fields, from hospitality to photography, and how their legacies were enshrined in financial instruments like bonds and stocks.

To further enrich the experience, the museum will host a winter break special program for elementary school students in January 2025. Designed as an interactive educational workshop, the program, titled Stories of Figures in Securities, will combine hands-on activities with learning materials related to the exhibition. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the intersection of history, innovation, and finance in an engaging and accessible way.

Both the permanent and special exhibitions at the Busan Securities Museum are free of charge, making them widely accessible to the public. The museum operates Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the last admission at 5:30 PM. It remains closed on Sundays and legal holidays.

This milestone exhibition underscores the museum’s dedication to bridging the gap between financial history and cultural education. As a rare institution in South Korea dedicated to securities, the Busan Securities Museum continues to play a pivotal role in raising public awareness about the importance of financial instruments and the remarkable individuals behind them.

Through Figures in Securities, visitors can gain a deeper appreciation of the historical impact of finance and the transformative contributions of visionary individuals. The museum invites history enthusiasts, students, and families alike to join the celebration and discover a fresh perspective on the world of securities.
