IST Entertainment has announced its decision to provide trademark rights for The Boyz to the group’s members free of charge, directly contradicting claims made by their new agency, One Hundred. On December 4, IST expressed its regret over what it described as misinformation surrounding the issue and clarified its position, emphasizing support for The Boyz’s future endeavors.
In an official statement, IST Entertainment stated, "We have decided to grant the full rights to use The Boyz trademark to all 11 members free of charge. This decision has already been communicated to the members." The company further added that the members would be allowed to use the trademark for any activities, including unit or individual projects, without any restrictions.
IST highlighted that this decision was driven by its commitment to the continuity of The Boyz as a team and ensuring unimpeded interaction with their fans. "We believe that offering the trademark rights directly to the members is the most appropriate and fair decision," the agency said.
To further support the group, IST revealed that it had accelerated the termination of its exclusive contract with The Boyz. Although six months remained on the contract, the agency opted to end it early to allow the members to pursue their careers under the new agency without delay.
Addressing allegations from One Hundred regarding excessive demands for the trademark, IST firmly denied the claims. "The rumors of us demanding unreasonable conditions are completely untrue. We have maintained an open stance and were waiting for constructive proposals," IST explained, labeling its prior discussions with One Hundred as purely general and procedural.
IST concluded its statement by expressing bittersweet sentiments about parting ways with The Boyz. "Although our journey with The Boyz is coming to an end, we promise to continue supporting their future activities. We genuinely wish them the best in their new chapter."
This stance sharply contrasts with One Hundred’s claims, which alleged that IST made unreasonable demands during trademark negotiations, leading to an impasse.
Meanwhile, the official contract termination between IST and The Boyz is set for December 5, marking a pivotal moment for the group as they transition to a new agency under One Hundred. Fans are closely monitoring the developments, hoping for a smooth path forward for The Boyz in their evolving career.
