New album continues the narrative introduced through the chess motif of ‘I,God’

XLOV has released concept photos for its third EP “i=!,” which is scheduled to arrive on Oct. 28.

The images place members Wumuti, Rui, Hyun and Haru in front of a traditional lacquered cabinet inlaid with mother-of-pearl patterns depicting flowers and trees. Black outfits and Gothic styling contrast with the cabinet’s decorative surface.

The members wear sharp eye makeup, metallic accessories and black or pink hairstyles, with red and blue accents applied to their eyes. The photographs use close-up portraits and poses arranged around the cabinet.

“i=!” follows the group’s second EP “I,God,” released in May. The previous album used the chess concept of pawn promotion to tell a story in which the weakest piece can reach the opposite end of the board and transform into another form.

The new EP will extend that narrative through its title and visual concept. “i=!” will be released through major streaming platforms at 6 p.m. on Oct. 28.
