Singer-songwriter Jang Beom June has announced the cancellation and rescheduling of his upcoming concerts due to the fallout from South Korea’s recent declaration and subsequent lifting of martial law. On November 6, he posted a notice on his social media about changes to his concert series, Jang Beom June’s Weekday Small Concert – Silent Rain is Falling.

The concerts initially scheduled for November 11-12 at Hyundai Card Understage in Hannam-dong have been postponed to later dates, while the performances set for November 18-19 at the same venue have been canceled. Ticket sales for the canceled dates, originally planned for November 9, have also been withdrawn.

Jang expressed regret in his statement, saying, “Concerts are a precious and joyful part of my life, but due to various circumstances, I’ve decided to pause and take time to reassess until things settle down.” He added, “I hope the situation resolves by the end of the year. I sincerely apologize to those who have already booked tickets and scheduled their time around the concerts.”

To reassure ticket holders, Jang promised flexible refund policies. “If you’d like a refund, you can request it at any time, even after new dates are announced, and it will be processed at 100%,” he emphasized.

Jang also used the announcement to encourage public engagement with current events. “Please stay informed by following the news,” he urged, adding, “For those who can, let’s support each other and stay strong during this time.”

The cancellations coincide with ongoing turmoil following the South Korean government’s declaration of martial law on November 3, which was lifted after six hours due to a resolution passed by the National Assembly under extraordinary circumstances. Despite the resolution, the situation remains unstable, with ripple effects such as canceled TV programming and delayed cultural events.

Jang also shared a visual accompanying his concert update, featuring the phrase Silent Rain is Falling. On November 4, he had previously posted an image of a candlelight, further hinting at his solidarity with ongoing social movements.

The artist’s decision to cancel performances reflects a broader trend in the entertainment industry, where major disruptions have led to the postponement or cancellation of numerous events. Jang’s choice to prioritize public sentiment and societal context over his schedule resonates with audiences navigating this turbulent period.
