The Daegu Art Museum will host a special educational program titled “Encountering Melody Through Painting” on December 13 at 2 p.m. in the museum auditorium. This event is part of the ongoing exhibition celebrating Kwon Oh Bong, the recipient of the 24th Lee In Sung Art Prize.

The program aims to provide an immersive understanding of Kwon’s intuitive and rhythmically rich paintings by linking them with the sensory and improvisational qualities of classical music. By delving into the shared fundamental motivations behind visual and auditory art forms, attendees will gain a multidimensional appreciation of Kwon’s work.

The event features commentary from music critic Cho Hee Chang, who will guide participants through a selection of classical pieces, including Schubert’s Impromptu No. 3 and Bassi’s Rigoletto Fantasy. The performance will be brought to life by a trio of accomplished musicians: cellist Lim Jae Sung, clarinetist Kim Woo Yeon, and pianist Moon Jae Won, each interpreting Kwon’s artistic vision through a musical lens.

Designed for adults, the program underscores the interdisciplinary nature of art and music, offering an engaging exploration of how these mediums resonate with and amplify each other. Through this initiative, participants are invited to experience the dynamic interplay of form, rhythm, and emotion across artistic disciplines.

Attendance is limited to 50 participants, who can register on a first-come, first-served basis through the Daegu Integrated Reservation System (yeyak.daegu.go.kr) or the Daegu Art Museum’s official website (daeguartmuseum.or.kr).
