Artcube 2R2, a prominent gallery located in Gangnam-gu, southern Seoul, will launch a major exhibition on August 22 dedicated to celebrating the groundbreaking contributions of five leading Korean female artists. The showcase will highlight the distinctive visual language and artistic innovations that Chun Kyung-ja, Park Rae-hyun, Yun Suk-nam, Bang Hye-ja, and Ryu Min-ja brought to Korea's modern and contemporary art landscape.

The exhibition has been strategically timed to coincide with two of Asia's most significant art events: KIAF (Korea International Art Fair) and Frieze Seoul, both running from September 3-6. The comprehensive display will span multiple floors of Artcube 2R2, featuring an extensive collection of paintings, drawings, sculptures, and media art installations across the gallery's first floor, basement Media Cube, and the sixth-floor Lounge Flux.

"This is not just a retrospective," explained Hong Ji-sook, director of Artcube 2R2. "It is an occasion to reflect on how the luminous legacies of these women artists can be inherited and expanded for future generations." The exhibition represents a significant effort to bridge generational gaps in Korean art appreciation while honoring the pioneering work of these influential artists.

The show aims to introduce both collectors and general audiences to the historical and contemporary significance of Korean women artists from older generations, specifically those born between 1924 and 1942. Hong emphasized that the exhibition seeks to further expand international interest in Korean women artists, positioning their work within the global contemporary art dialogue.

To accommodate art enthusiasts attending KIAF and Frieze Seoul, the gallery will extend its hours during Cheongdam Night on September 3, remaining open late into the evening. The exhibition, which will run through September, marks a milestone for Artcube 2R2 as it celebrates the first anniversary of the gallery's relocation. The gallery operates under ArtToken, a Korean online platform specializing in art trading and NFTs (non-fungible tokens).
