Seventeen, Tomorrow X Together (TXT), and NewJeans are spreading goodwill by participating in the MusiCares charity auction. On January 21, HYBE announced that the groups donated outfits and accessories worn during their activities to support the auction, organized by MusiCares, a charitable arm of the Recording Academy, which also hosts the Grammy Awards.
MusiCares holds an annual charity auction leading up to the Grammy Awards, with proceeds going to initiatives that support individuals in the music industry. This year, Seventeen contributed outfits and accessories worn during the music video shoot for their best album, 17 Is Right Here. TXT donated concept photo outfits from their mini album, minisode 3: TOMORROW. NewJeans added to the cause by donating attire worn at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards, held last March in Los Angeles.
This marks the first time Seventeen, TXT, and NewJeans have participated in the MusiCares charity auction. BTS, also under HYBE, previously supported the cause from 2020 to 2023, donating memorabilia from their careers, including stage-worn outfits and personal items.
The charity auction is an annual highlight, attracting contributions from global music icons. This year’s participants include Ringo Starr, Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Billy Joel, and SZA, among others. The auction not only celebrates the music community but also underscores its collective commitment to supporting those in need.
The inclusion of Seventeen, TXT, and NewJeans in this year’s auction demonstrates their growing influence and dedication to giving back. HYBE commented, “We are proud to have our artists contribute to a cause that uplifts the global music community. This initiative allows them to connect with their fans on a deeper level while supporting an important cause.”
As the MusiCares auction gains momentum, fans and collectors alike are showing enthusiasm for the unique memorabilia from their favorite artists. The event highlights the positive impact of combining music and philanthropy, with proceeds going towards vital resources for musicians and industry professionals facing financial or health challenges.
With their participation, Seventeen, TXT, and NewJeans join a prestigious roster of artists committed to using their platforms for social good, reflecting the growing role of K-pop in global charitable efforts.
