Singer and actor Ong Seong Wu has joined hands with UNICEF Korea to extend a message of warmth and generosity to children across the globe. On December 16, the UNICEF Korea Committee announced that Ong would spearhead the Gifts That Save Lives campaign, a program designed to provide critical aid to children in vulnerable conditions.
The Gifts That Save Lives initiative allows donors to choose specific relief items—such as nutrition packs, water sanitation supplies, and educational materials—which UNICEF then delivers to children in need. Ong will lead this campaign through a specially curated Ong Seong Wu Package, featuring therapeutic food for malnourished children, blankets, and notebooks. The package embodies the theme of a "gift shop for a joyful winter," focusing on providing warmth and happiness.
Sharing his motivation for joining the campaign, Ong stated, “I wanted to share the gratitude and love I have received from my fans in a more meaningful way.” He also expressed his hopes for the campaign, saying, “I’m happy to contribute, even in a small way, to making this winter a happier one for children around the world.”
This is not Ong’s first act of generosity. In 2021, he participated in the same UNICEF campaign, donating his time and resources to amplify its impact. A representative remarked, “Ong Seong Wu has consistently demonstrated his genuine concern for children’s well-being. We are grateful to have him join us again after his military service to continue his inspiring journey of giving back.”
UNICEF Korea Secretary-General Jo Mi Jin thanked Ong for his commitment to the cause. “Despite his busy schedule, Ong Seong Wu has offered his time and talent to support this campaign. His involvement will bring hope and courage to children who are enduring harsh winters due to war, disasters, and other crises.”
The campaign calls for public participation in the Ong Seong Wu Package, inviting fans and supporters to take part in spreading joy and warmth to children globally. “We hope many will join us in supporting this meaningful effort to provide a happier winter for children in need,” Jo concluded.
