SEOUL, August 15, 2024 - Renowned Korean sculptor Jeon Yong Hwan has unveiled his latest exhibition, "Transforming Cycle," at Gallery Mill Studio in Seoul. Running from August 15th to August 28th, 2024, this exhibition offers a deep dive into the complex and mesmerizing world of biological structures, with a focus on the themes of circulation and transformation.

The core concept of Jeon's work is rooted in the idea of circulation—a continuous, unending loop of transformation. This concept is symbolized through the use of arrows and loops in his sculptures, representing the interconnectedness of beginnings and endings within a perpetual cycle. Jeon’s sculptures, which deliberately lack a definitive front or back, start or end, challenge the viewer to consider life as an ongoing process of change and evolution.

In "Transforming Cycle," Jeon explores the intricate beauty of protein structures, which serve as the foundation of all life forms. By employing aluminum, a material chosen for its lightness and versatility, Jeon skillfully melds the rigidity of metal with the fluidity of organic forms. Jeon’s artistic methodology, which he likens to architectural design, involves the meticulous cutting and welding of individual aluminum pieces. A graduate of the prestigious Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara in Italy, as well as Hongik University in Seoul, Jeon has held 24 solo exhibitions both in Korea and internationally, establishing himself as a leading figure in contemporary sculpture.
