Songdo Convensia, Incheon’s flagship MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) facility, achieved a record-breaking performance in 2024, solidifying its position as a global hub for business and cultural events.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZA) announced on the 8th that Songdo Convensia hosted a total of 1,014 exhibitions and conferences last year, attracting 1,061,801 visitors. This marked the highest number of events and attendees since its opening in 2008. The facility’s estimated economic ripple effect reached an impressive 560.7 billion KRW.
Songdo Convensia also achieved remarkable financial milestones. Its revenue soared to 13.8 billion KRW, a 43.7% increase from the previous year, and it reported a net profit of 1.2 billion KRW—marking the first time the facility has operated in the black.
The state-of-the-art venue features two large conference halls accommodating up to 1,800 attendees, four expansive exhibition halls, and 35 small-to-medium-sized meeting rooms. These versatile spaces enabled Songdo Convensia to host an array of large-scale events, such as the Korea Drone Expo, the Incheon Art Show, and the Asia-Pacific Wind Energy Summit. Events like the Korea Advanced Materials Week further enhanced its competitive edge as a premier MICE destination.
An IFEZA official noted, “Songdo Convensia’s diverse portfolio of events highlights its capability to attract both domestic and international gatherings. The successful execution of these events has significantly contributed to Incheon’s reputation as a global city.”
Looking ahead, Incheon aims to leverage Songdo Convensia as a platform to host high-profile events, including preparatory meetings for the 2025 APEC Summit. By doing so, the city seeks to enhance its international stature and maximize the high-value potential of its MICE industry.
