Netflix's "Sweet Home" monster horror franchise makes a comeback with "Sweet Home 2," featuring new characters and advanced visual effects. Directed by Lee Eung-bok, known for his work on hit series like "Descendants of the Sun" and "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God," the second season builds on the success of the series' first season, which premiered three years ago.
In the initial season, "Sweet Home" depicted the struggles of individuals residing in Green Home, a rundown apartment, as they faced a world where people transformed into monsters. The sequel follows the Green Home residents as they leave their apartment and embark on a journey to a military-controlled "safety camp." The narrative introduces additional characters, including government researchers and soldiers specializing in monster combat.
Actor Song Kang, reprising the role of Cha Hyun-soo, emphasized that "Sweet Home 2" goes beyond the monster genre, focusing on the theme of human nature. The series aims to address who truly qualifies as a monster and whether humans are inherently superior beings.
Director Lee Eung-bok confirmed that the "Sweet Home" franchise will continue with a third season in the near future, promising a shorter wait for fans compared to the gap between the first and second seasons.
"Sweet Home 2" is set to release on Netflix this Friday.
