The late 19th century marked a time of radical change in Vienna, with artists striving to break free from the constraints of traditional art forms. Led by Gustav Klimt, the Vienna Secession movement emerged, advocating for artistic freedom and innovation. The exhibition will trace the impact of this movement not only in painting but also in fields like music, architecture, and design, showcasing the interdisciplinary nature of the period.

In addition to Klimt and Schiele, the exhibition will present works from other prominent artists who contributed to Vienna’s cultural renaissance. Paintings, drawings, posters, photographs, and crafts from the era will highlight the diverse approaches that artists took to address the social and political tensions of their time.

The collaboration between the National Museum of Korea and the Leopold Museum offers a unique opportunity for Korean audiences to experience the richness of Vienna’s cultural history. Through the lens of art, the exhibition will shine a light on how these "dreaming artists" envisioned a new world, grappling with the complexities of modern life while still holding onto the romantic ideals of the past.

The exhibition aims to transport visitors back to 19th-century Vienna, a city known for its elegant blend of tradition and modernity. As a major cultural center, Vienna fostered an environment where artists could experiment and challenge societal norms, making it the perfect backdrop for the revolutionary works of Klimt, Schiele, and their contemporaries.

As part of the exhibition, the museum will also offer educational programs and guided tours to help visitors gain a deeper understanding of the period’s cultural and historical significance. These programs will provide insights into how Vienna's artists navigated the changing landscape of art and society during one of the most dynamic times in European history.

In conclusion, Vienna 1900 at the National Museum of Korea will not only highlight the artistic achievements of Klimt and Schiele but also serve as a broader reflection on the cultural shifts that defined the modernist era. Visitors are invited to explore the intricate connection between art, history, and society, and witness the legacy of Vienna's visionary artists.
