BTS member J-Hope has received widespread praise from international media following the release of his digital single Sweet Dreams on March 7.
Billboard lauded the track, stating, "J-Hope’s rapping blends seamlessly with Miguel’s signature vocals, creating a dreamy groove." The publication further highlighted his artistic growth, emphasizing that "J-Hope continues his genre-crossing musical journey, expanding the meaning of his solo discography."
Consequence of Sound also noted the shift in his musical direction, describing Sweet Dreams as a departure from the rock-inspired sound of his first solo album. Grammy.com echoed this sentiment, pointing out that "J-Hope moves away from old-school rap styles to deliver a tender love song, marking a significant contrast to his previous works."
In an interview with Rolling Stone, J-Hope shared his inspiration behind the song, explaining, "I wanted to explore a different side of myself by delving into the emotion of ‘love.’" He also reflected on his journey, stating, "I am well aware of the many people watching over and supporting me. I always strive to maintain a strong sense of responsibility."
As anticipation builds for his upcoming North American tour, J-Hope expressed his excitement, describing it as "a tour that showcases every facet of myself." He added, "This stage will serve as a window into my entire being."
Meanwhile, J-Hope is set to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 11 at 12:35 PM KST.
