Rookie project group Newkidz has officially made its debut appearance, generating anticipation for their upcoming journey.
On March 9, Starship Entertainment unveiled the participants of its global project Debut’s Plan, releasing profile photos and a performance video. The 21 trainees, all donning matching gray school uniforms with name tags, presented a refreshing and charismatic image, showcasing a range of styles from youthful innocence to bold confidence.
The group’s Balla performance video highlighted their exceptional skills. The 21 members executed intricate choreography with remarkable precision, demonstrating synchronized group formations alongside dynamic solo performances. Their powerful presence and refined technique immediately captivated viewers, building excitement for the main project.
The showcased track leaned into a hip-hop style, featuring an addictive melody that left a lasting impression. The blend of rhythmic beats and energetic performance instantly drew attention, further amplifying interest in the upcoming competition format.
According to Starship Entertainment, "The performance video was filmed in November last year. It is a project entirely conceptualized and directed by the 21 Newkidz members themselves, showcasing their growth through Debut’s Plan."
Newkidz marks Starship’s first boy group launch in five years, following the success of MONSTA X and CRAVITY. The agency emphasized, "Key members of our production team, who have extensive experience in launching successful groups, are fully involved in this project."
Debut’s Plan will unfold in five stages, tracking the trainees' progress and challenges. Fans will have a direct role in determining the final lineup, as votes will decide which members advance to the final debut evaluation.
The program is set to premiere on March 14, with the first round of voting running from 10 PM KST that night until April 3 at 10 AM KST. Fans will be able to vote once per day, making their voices heard in shaping the next generation of K-pop idols.
