The project group Close Your Eyes, formed through JTBC's Project 7, faces controversy as its managing company, Encore, issues a stern warning regarding alleged contract violations by certain member agencies. The group, which is set to debut soon, has encountered challenges that could overshadow its highly anticipated launch.

Encore released an official statement on January 10, highlighting that all participants in Project 7 had explicitly agreed to a contract clause stipulating that, if selected as final members, they would not engage in activities outside the group without prior approval. "This was clearly understood and agreed upon during the contract signing," the company stated.

However, Encore claims that one specific agency violated this agreement by arranging domestic and international events for its artist without prior consent. Additionally, the agency reportedly insisted on the member concurrently participating in individual group activities alongside Close Your Eyes, which Encore deemed unilateral and noncompliant with the signed terms.

The situation escalated further when Encore accused the agency of pressuring its artist to partake in these external activities on short notice, without proper prior communication. "This reckless approach is concerning, especially as the agency implies potential consequences for noncompliance," said Encore.

Encore has hinted at legal action to address the matter. “Project 7 is a group created entirely through the support of fans, backed by significant investments and the dedicated efforts of the production team,” the company said. “We will not tolerate actions that undermine these efforts or show disregard for the project’s integrity.”

The company strongly condemned the agency’s actions, labeling them as both contract violations and unfair competitive practices. “We issue a stern warning that any obstructive behavior toward the group’s activities constitutes illegal conduct. All necessary legal measures will be pursued to address this,” Encore added.

Close Your Eyes comprises members Ma Jing Xiang, Sakurada Kenshin, Jeon Min Wook, Seo Kyung Bae, Song Seung Ho, Jang Yeo Jun, and Kim Sung Min, who were selected as the debut lineup through Project 7. Despite the mounting tension, the group’s debut remains one of the most anticipated in the K-pop industry.

As the situation unfolds, fans and industry observers alike are watching closely to see how these challenges will impact the group’s trajectory and whether Encore’s legal warning will deter further disruptions.
