Thailand has revealed its pavilion design for the upcoming World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, featuring an innovative concept called "Bhumipiman - the Land of Immunity." Designed by Architects 49 in collaboration with local Japanese firm Tokuoka Sekkei, the 1,500-square-meter pavilion aims to showcase Thailand's rich natural resources and healthy lifestyle practices to a global audience.
The pavilion's central theme revolves around the Thai concept of "Bhumi," which represents the land and its inherent ability to build immunity. According to the architects, the design will create an immersive atmosphere that allows visitors to experience Thailand's abundant natural resources and understand how the Thai way of life contributes to both physical and mental well-being. The project is led by a team of prominent architects including Prabhakorn Vadanyakul, Dr. Narongwit Areemit, Tikumporn Theerapongpakdee, and Dussadee Summart.
The architectural design incorporates extensive use of glass materials and features a contemporary aesthetic that reflects Thailand's potential from past to present while looking toward a sustainable future. The pavilion structure emphasizes transparency and openness, symbolizing Thailand's commitment to forging strong connections with the international community. The building's design philosophy centers on demonstrating how traditional Thai wisdom and modern innovation can work together to create healthier living environments.
The project represents a significant collaborative effort between Thai and Japanese design teams, with computational design work handled by Patana Rattananavathong and Pongsakorn Wattanawetcharat. Exhibition design is being managed by Rightman, while the construction involves a joint venture between RMA110 and local contractors including TUFF's Corporation and Acala. Engineering consultancy is provided by multiple firms including A-Forum, AE49 for structural work, and ME49 for mechanical systems.
The Thailand Pavilion is part of the larger World Expo 2025 Osaka initiative, which will bring together countries from around the world to showcase innovations, cultural heritage, and future visions. The expo is expected to attract millions of visitors who will have the opportunity to explore Thailand's unique approach to health, wellness, and sustainable living through interactive exhibits and cultural presentations within the pavilion space.
Scheduled for completion in 2025, the pavilion will serve as a platform for Thailand to demonstrate its commitment to global health initiatives and sustainable development practices. The project represents not only an architectural achievement but also a diplomatic and cultural bridge between Thailand and the international community, emphasizing the country's role in promoting immunity-building practices and healthy lifestyle choices on a global scale.
