Actor Kim Sae Ron was found deceased at her residence on the 16th. She was 25 years old. Her friend discovered her body and reported it to the authorities, prompting an immediate police and emergency response.
According to an official from the Seongdong Police Station, the emergency call was received at 4:50 p.m. on the 16th. Officers and paramedics were dispatched to the scene shortly thereafter. Police have confirmed that there were no signs of forced entry, and as of now, no evidence suggesting foul play has been identified.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, focusing on testimonies from the initial witness and those close to the late actor. However, they have refrained from disclosing details regarding the presence of a will or the specific circumstances surrounding her passing, citing the ongoing nature of the inquiry.
Kim Sae Ron had been staying out of the public eye following a drunk driving incident in May 2022. At the time, she crashed into roadside structures near Gangnam and fled the scene, leading to legal consequences and a period of self-reflection.
Her most recent work was the Netflix series Bloodhounds, which had been filmed prior to the 2022 incident. She was also set to return to the stage with the play Dongchimi last May, but ultimately withdrew due to health concerns.
A former child actress, Kim gained recognition through her roles in films such as The Man from Nowhere and A Girl at My Door, showcasing early promise in the entertainment industry. However, her career had been largely on hold since her legal troubles.
Fans and industry colleagues have expressed shock and sorrow over the news, mourning the loss of a young talent whose career trajectory had once seemed boundless. As investigations continue, further details regarding the circumstances of her passing are expected to emerge in due course.
