The breakout hit "Golden" from Netflix's animated film "K-pop Demon Hunters" has reclaimed the top position on the British Official Singles Chart Top 100, marking its second time at No. 1. The track's return to the summit demonstrates the continuing global impact of K-pop music and its growing influence in Western markets.

According to the chart results released on Friday, "Golden" successfully dethroned "The Subway" by Chappel Roan, which had held the No. 1 position during the previous week. This latest achievement follows the song's initial climb to the top spot two weeks earlier, showcasing its sustained popularity among British music fans.

The track represents a significant milestone for Korean popular music, becoming the first K-pop song to reach No. 1 on the UK charts in over a decade. The last K-pop track to achieve this feat was Psy's viral sensation "Gangnam Style," which topped the British charts in 2012. This 13-year gap makes "Golden's" success particularly noteworthy for the Korean music industry.

"Golden" is performed by the fictional girl group Huntr/x from the Netflix animation, but the actual vocals are provided by a talented trio of artists. The song features Ejae, a composer who received training at the prestigious SM Entertainment company, alongside Korean American singer Audrey Nuna and South Korean-born US-based artist Rei Ami. This collaboration brings together diverse musical backgrounds and experiences.

The success of "Golden" extends beyond the UK, as the track also conquered the American music charts earlier this week by reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This dual achievement on both sides of the Atlantic demonstrates the song's broad international appeal and the growing global reach of K-pop music.

The soundtrack's success isn't limited to just "Golden," as other tracks from the "K-pop Demon Hunters" original soundtrack have also performed impressively on the British charts. "Soda Pop" secured the sixth position, while "Your Idol" claimed seventh place, showing the soundtrack's overall strength. Additionally, "Takedown" managed to break into the top 40 by landing at 35th place.

The Netflix animated film features K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey performing on elaborately designed stages, including one that resembles "Irworobongdo," a traditional Korean folding screen that depicts the sun, moon, and five mountain peaks. This artistic choice reflects the show's blend of modern K-pop culture with traditional Korean elements, creating a unique visual and musical experience for audiences worldwide.
