ARTSIDE Gallery Showcases Diverse Artists at Galleries Art Fair 2023 in Seoul

Influential Gallery Highlights Talented Artists from Korea, China, and Europe, Connecting the International Art Market and Asia's Art Circles

ARTSIDE Gallery, a prominent art gallery based in Seoul, South Korea, is currently participating in the prestigious Galleries Art Fair 2023 held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul. The gallery's booth at the art fair features an impressive lineup of artists, including MUN Yunwook, SONG Seungeun, OH Byungwook, JO Eun, and CHOI Suin, who are known for their unique artistic styles and diverse backgrounds.

MUN Yunwook, born in 1980, is a ceramic artist who studied ceramics at Kookmin University and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree. His works are characterized by the use of soft soil as a base, combined with cold and sharp materials such as iron, to express tension and balance.

SONG Seungeun, born in 1991, completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in painting at Hongik University. Her artistic exploration lies in the realm between the superficial depth of painting and the point at which narrative occurs, creating thought-provoking works.

OH Byungwook, born in 1959, graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in painting and holds a master's degree in Art Theory from the same graduate school. His artistic endeavors focus on depicting nature, especially the sea, as he seeks to reconcile life and art by immersing himself in the countryside.

JO Eun, born in 1986, graduated from Chonnam National University with a degree in Korean Painting and Oriental Painting from the Graduate School of Hongik University. JO Eun's works reflect her extensive research on various materials and techniques for oriental painting, capturing the vitality of nature through freely spreading ink, water, and glue on Korean paper.

CHOI Suin, born in 1987, received her B.F.A. from Korea National University of Arts and her M.F.A. from the same graduate school, majoring in plastic arts. Her works revolve around the concept of the "situational self," contemplating the moment of occurrence when the subject becomes a social being and capturing the layer of emotion triggered in the process.

ARTSIDE Gallery, founded in 1999 in Insa-dong, initially aimed to be a center for the ceaseless evolution of art. The gallery's three-story building could accommodate large-scale exhibitions, and its Window Gallery facing the street provided a platform for emerging artists. In 2010, ARTSIDE Gallery relocated to Tongui-Dong, an area with rich historical significance, and has since become an influential gallery in Korea's art scene, actively promoting talented artists from Korea, China, and Europe.

The gallery's activities and spaces serve as a gateway that transcends borders, connecting the international art market with Asia's art circles. They also foster common themes between Eastern and Western cultures, promoting the amalgamation of arts and the development of international works.The Galleries Art Fair 2023, where ARTSIDE Gallery is currently showcasing its diverse lineup of artists, will continue until the 16th, offering art enthusiasts and collectors an opportunity to appreciate the rich and diverse world of contemporary art.
