Jung Woo, esteemed actor known for his versatile performances, is set to captivate audiences in his latest project, JTBC's new fantasy series "Miraculous Brothers." In this intriguing drama that premiered on Wednesday, Jung Woo portrays Yook Dong-Ju, an aspiring author whose unwavering determination and infectious positivity resonate with viewers.
The narrative revolves around Dong-Ju, who has dedicated seven challenging years of his life to achieving his dream of becoming a best-selling writer. Despite numerous setbacks and continuous failures in his career, Dong-Ju remains undeterred in his pursuit of success.
Fate takes an unexpected turn when Dong-Ju accidentally collides with Kang San, played by the talented Bae Hyun-sung, a mysterious boy who loses his memory but gains an extraordinary ability to read people's minds. Interestingly, this unique ability fails to penetrate Dong-Ju's thoughts, forging a special bond between the two characters where Kang finds solace and solace in Dong-Ju's company.
During an online press conference for the series, Jung Woo spoke about his character, describing Dong-Ju as someone burdened with debt yet steadfastly committed to embracing life's opportunities. "He may not find hope easily, but his passion for life remains unyielding. Despite his struggles to debut as an author for seven years, he never abandons his dreams or loses his positive energy. Audiences will undoubtedly relate to this aspect of his personality," the actor explained.
Jung Woo further expressed his deep connection to the story, emphasizing the script's compelling nature and the sense of destiny he felt when encountering it. "I read through the script twice. It was exceptionally well-written, with a tightly woven storyline. I immersed myself in Dong-Ju's perspective, and each character was perfectly convincing. The script's perfection impressed me, and during filming, our synergy was remarkable, as if it was meant to be," he shared.
Directed by Park Chan-hong and penned by acclaimed scriptwriter Kim Ji-woo, "Miraculous Brothers" marks their eleventh collaboration. The duo previously worked together on notable series such as the 2019 drama "Beautiful World" and the 2016 melodrama "Memory."
Director Park expressed his desire for the series to capture the miraculous moments that occur in people's lives. Departing from his previous works, which often tackled darker social issues, he aimed to adopt a lighter approach. "Life presents us with situations where we yearn for miracles, where we find ourselves in absurd circumstances for incomprehensible reasons. I wanted to capture those moments and weave them into this series," he shared.
Working with Director Park was a source of immense satisfaction for Jung Woo, who praised the director's energy, leadership, and wisdom gained through experience. "It has been an honor to collaborate with Director Park. On set, his vigor and guidance were palpable. I witnessed his superhuman strength, which enabled me to give my all. Joining this project was unquestionably the right decision, and I was thrilled to work alongside my co-stars. I feel fortunate to be part of this production. "Miraculous Brothers" airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:30 p.m., promising audiences a compelling and uplifting viewing experience infused with hope and inspiration.
