Former (G)I-dle Member Soojin Teases Solo Comeback Amidst Bullying Allegations

Soojin, formerly of (G)I-dle, hints at a solo comeback after two years, as bullying allegations continue to linger

Former (G)I-dle member Soojin, also known as Seo Soo-jin, recently posted a black-and-white performance video on her newly launched social media channels. The video, titled "Black Forest," showcases her graceful dance to an instrumental track, signaling her imminent comeback. This development follows a report by News1, which exclusively revealed her upcoming solo debut under the relatively new local label BRD Communications in October.

Soojin's journey towards her comeback began in the summer, as she opened her own Instagram account in June. The dance video, shared on BRD's social media platforms, represents her first public post on this platform.

While specific details about her upcoming activities remain undisclosed, her global fanbase has eagerly anticipated her return. Within just 17 hours of its release on X (formerly known as Twitter), the video garnered 1.8 million views and over 2,000 comments, with many fans expressing their excitement.

However, Soojin's return is not without controversy. In February 2021, she faced bullying allegations when someone claiming to be a family member of a victim accused her of harassing her sister during middle school. Soojin denied these allegations, but the situation escalated when actor Seo Shin-ae also claimed to have been bullied by Soojin during their school years. In August of that year, Soojin left (G)I-dle and eventually terminated her contract with the band's agency, Cube Entertainment, in March 2022.

Soojin took legal action against the initial accuser for spreading false rumors, but the case was eventually dropped by the police. In September 2022, she released an apology through her attorney, stating that she would close the case due to a lack of evidence to support the accusations.

Soojin initially debuted as a member of the six-piece girl group (G)I-dle in May 2018. During her time with the group, she gained a dedicated fanbase due to her captivating performances and on-stage charisma. After her departure, (G)I-dle continued as a quintet and recently made their US debut with the English-language EP "Heat."
