Director Park So-yeon discussed the upcoming original series, "Pyramid Game," during a press conference at CGV in Yongsan District, Seoul, on Monday. The psychological thriller, set to release on Feb. 29 on Tving, delves into the intricacies of systemic school bullying, focusing on the experiences of victims, perpetrators, and bystanders.
Adapted from the popular webtoon of the same name, the series follows Sung Su-ji (Kim Ji-yeon), a newly transferred student with a military background. Su-ji, accustomed to frequent moves due to her single father's military service, faces the challenges of a brutal ranking game within her new class. The monthly voting determines the class hierarchy, with students categorized into five grades based on popularity.

Director Park So-yeon, known for leading the 2023 rom-com series "The Heavenly Idol," expressed her attraction to the original webtoon's compelling narrative and its exploration of psychological changes through the unconventional game. She emphasized the portrayal of diverse characters among the 25 students, with a focus on the psychological shifts sparked by Su-ji's rebellion.
Actors Shin Seul-ki from Netflix's reality show "Single's Inferno" and Jang Da-ah, making her acting debut, are featured in the series, along with Kim Ji-yeon. The actors discussed their efforts to align with the original characters from the webtoon, with Kim highlighting Su-ji's transformation from a seemingly cold and sly demeanor to a more righteous one.
