The upcoming film "The Land of Happiness," starring the late actor Lee Sun-kyun, renowned for his role in the Oscar-winning film "Parasite," is scheduled to premiere in theaters this August, according to the film's distributor, Friday.

"The Land of Happiness" portrays the narrative of lawyer Jung In-hoo (portrayed by Jo Jung-suk), who defends soldier Park Tae-joo (played by Lee Sun-kyun) in a trial concerning the assassination of President Park Chung-hee, as outlined by NEW, the film's distributor.

Director Choo Chang-min, known for directing the successful historical drama "Masquerade" (2012) and the thriller "Seven Years of Night" (2018), leads the film.

Meanwhile, the official release date for Lee's other posthumous project, "Project Silence," which has been selected for the Midnight Screening, a noncompetitive category at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, remains undecided.

In December of the previous year, Lee was found deceased in his car in Seoul, following his involvement in the third round of police interrogation regarding alleged drug use, including marijuana. Despite maintaining his innocence and requesting a lie detector test, Lee's passing marked a somber conclusion to his career.
