At the 2024 Billboard Women In Music Awards, K-pop group NewJeans secured the title of Group of the Year, marking a historic win as the first K-pop act to achieve this recognition. The annual awards ceremony, initiated in 2007, acknowledges women who have made substantial contributions to the music industry across various categories. NewJeans was the sole K-pop artist honored at this year's event.

Renowned alongside other female artists such as American singer Maren Morris, American rapper Ice Spice, and British singer-songwriter Charli XCX, NewJeans joins the ranks of women excelling in the music world. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles on March 6.

Debuting in July 2022 under the agency ADOR, a music label under HYBE, NewJeans has quickly risen to prominence in the K-pop scene. The group boasts major hits like "Attention" (2022), "Ditto" (2022), and "Hype Boy" (2022).

Notably, NewJeans recently achieved a milestone by matching the record set by girl group Blackpink for the longest-charting album on the Billboard 200 chart by a K-pop girl group. Their second EP, "Get Up," has maintained a presence on the chart for 26 consecutive weeks.

The group's significant presence at the Billboard Music Awards in November of the previous year further solidified their standing in the industry. NewJeans became the first K-pop girl group to perform at the ceremony and secured the title of Top Global K-pop Artist.
