V, a member of the globally acclaimed boy band BTS, has taken the music world by storm with the release of his first solo album, "Layover," which shattered records and set a new standard for solo K-pop artists.

On the album's release day, Friday, V achieved an extraordinary feat by selling a staggering 1.67 million copies of "Layover," marking the highest-ever sales for a solo K-pop singer. The impressive numbers underscore V's immense popularity and influence in the music industry.

"Layover" swiftly ascended to the top of the iTunes Top Album charts in an astonishing 65 regions worldwide, an affirmation of V's global appeal and his ability to resonate with fans across the globe, as reported by his agency, BigHit Music.

The album's lead track, "Slow Dancing," also made waves, claiming the top spot on the iTunes Top Song chart in an astounding 75 regions around the world as of Sunday at 7 a.m.

Japan, a critical market for K-pop, witnessed V's dominance as "Layover" clinched the top position on Japan's prestigious Oricon Daily Album Ranking chart, amassing a remarkable 221,491 copies sold in the country. Furthermore, the lead track secured the No. 1 spot on Oricon's Daily Digital Single Ranking chart. The album's additional tracks, including "Blue," "For Us," and a piano version of "Slow Dancing," held strong positions at 4th, 5th, and 6th place on the chart, respectively.

V's album "Layover" encapsulates his introspective journey, inviting listeners to reflect on their past experiences before reaching their final destinations. The title itself conveys this sentiment. "Slow Dancing," the album's standout track, offers a sense of tranquility and relaxation, as V himself explained in a video addressing his album's themes.

"I hope people feel free and comfortable while they're listening to this song," V expressed, emphasizing the emotional connection he aims to establish with his audience.

Regarding the unique musical direction of "Slow Dancing," V shared, "I usually talk slow, and [the producer] actually turned this into a unique color for me. This is the kind of music that I wanted."

He added a personal touch, saying, "This could be the time for me to look back and reflect on myself before the final destination. I hope this solo album allows me to become more determined to achieve my goal."

V's debut solo venture has not only affirmed his status as a musical powerhouse but also provided fans with an intimate glimpse into his artistic evolution and aspirations, cementing his position as a beloved figure in the global music landscape.
