The highly anticipated second season of the global hit series "Squid Game" is set to feature a diverse cast, including actor Won Ji-an, as reported by local outlet JTBC Entertainment on Wednesday. The inclusion of Won and fellow female actors Park Gyu-young, Kim Si-eun, and Jo Yu-ri aims to address the criticism sparked by last week's announcement from Netflix, which revealed the casting of four male actors for the second season, but no female actors.

Last week, Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun were the male actors unveiled by Netflix for the upcoming season of "Squid Game." However, the lack of female representation in the initial cast announcement drew considerable backlash.

Won Ji-an, who made her acting debut in the acclaimed Netflix series "D.P." (2021), has since showcased her talent in dramas such as "If You Wish Upon Me" (2022) and "Heartbeat" (2023).

"Squid Game" captivated audiences around the world upon its release in 2021, dominating streaming service charts and earning widespread critical acclaim. The survival drama series depicted a gripping narrative wherein financially struggling participants engage in deadly children's games with the chance to win a staggering prize of 45.6 billion won ($35.7 million).

With the commencement of shooting scheduled for the latter half of this year, fans eagerly await the second season of "Squid Game." As of now, an official release date for the highly anticipated season has not yet been announced.
