At the world's premier architecture trade fair BAU Munich 2025, Orama Minimal Frames showcased groundbreaking innovations that are set to transform the architectural frame industry. The company's exhibition featured revolutionary magnetic levitation technology and expanded product lines that challenge traditional boundaries in frame design, drawing significant attention from industry professionals and architectural enthusiasts.
The centerpiece of Orama's presentation was the Z + Magnet technology, a magnetic levitation system developed in partnership with Agostini Group. This innovative technology fundamentally transforms sliding frame movement by completely eliminating friction, creating an effortless sliding experience that requires minimal force to operate. When integrated with Orama's signature Z system, this represents a significant leap forward in frame mechanics and user experience.
Expanding beyond its technical innovations, Orama introduced real-wood lamination to its renowned Z system, bringing organic warmth and natural aesthetics to its minimalist designs. This enhancement creates seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor environments, successfully blending refined functionality with the beauty of natural materials. The wood lamination option addresses growing market demand for sustainable and biophilic design elements in modern architecture.
The company also unveiled its new ORBIT frame system, which exemplifies Orama's dedication to uncompromised sightlines and practical operation. Available in both side-hung and top-hung configurations, ORBIT integrates awning and opening hardware while maintaining visual continuity and ensuring optimal functionality. This system addresses the architectural need for maximum transparency without sacrificing operational efficiency.
Orama's exhibition space was expertly conceptualized by RolePlay under the compelling theme "What Could Be." Inspired by the company's magnetic frame system, the booth embodied the surreal concept of levitation through seemingly floating structures that challenged traditional architectural boundaries. The installation used polycarbonate and aluminum frames to define distinct zones of varying heights, enhancing visual appeal while providing functional privacy.
The booth's sophisticated design featured semi-transparent surfaces thoughtfully integrated into a dynamic lighting system, allowing light to interact with the ethereal barriers in mesmerizing ways. A 55-meter LED screen anchored the back of the space, presenting a campaign video whose shifting background hues interacted with the translucent surfaces, creating an immersive, ever-changing atmosphere reminiscent of sunset gradients.
The exhibition space prioritized hospitality, creating a welcoming environment that served as a central hub for Orama's partners and visitors. The relaxed setting featured inviting seating and bar areas that encouraged interaction and meaningful exchange among attendees. Product showcases were reimagined as scaled-down, multifunctional exhibits that doubled as tables and gathering points, perfectly encapsulating Orama's design philosophy that "less truly becomes more."
Complementing the architectural narrative was "Baetylus," a commissioned artwork by artist Stefania Strouza. This levitating sculpture, adorned with silver leaves resembling a metal-rich meteorite, explores profound themes of transformation and materiality. Its reflective surface dances with light, mirroring the dramatic transformation of celestial bodies as they enter Earth's atmosphere—a fitting parallel to Orama's inventive spirit and transformative approach to architectural elements.
The creative team behind the exhibition included Creative Direction by Roza Giannopoulou, Architectural Design and Art Direction by Eva Bolou, and Project Management by Maria Konomis. Additional contributions came from video work by Panos Oikonomou, copywriting by Olympia Aivazi, 3D animation by GRAU Visuals, and sound design by Panos Economou, RolePlay, and Nikos Triantafyllou. The booth construction was handled by Syma Production, with photography by RolePlay documenting the innovative exhibition.
