Mnet Announces New Vocal Talent Audition Show for Boy Band Creation

"Buildup: Vocal Boy Group Survivor" to Showcase Unique Singing Styles in Search of Skilled Singers

Cable channel Mnet is set to launch "Buildup: Vocal Boy Group Survivor," a new audition program aimed at forming a boy band with exceptional vocal abilities. The project, announced in a press release on Tuesday, will feature contestants demonstrating their vocal skills through various competitions, with a focus on presenting unique singing styles not seen in previous vocal groups.

Actor Lee Da-hee has been chosen as the host for the show, bringing her experience from hosting Mnet's "Queendom" in 2019 and "Road to Kingdom" in 2020. Lee, who debuted as a model in 2002, has established herself as an actor with notable works including "I Can Hear Your Voice" (2013), "Beauty Inside" (2018), and "Search WWW" (2019).

"Buildup: Vocal Boy Group Survival" is scheduled to air in the first half of 2024, offering a platform for aspiring singers to showcase their vocal prowess.

In a similar vein, JTBC is also launching an audition show titled "Girls on Fire," focusing on vocal skills to form a girl group. Produced by the team behind JTBC's previous audition shows, "Phantom Singer" (2016–) and "Super Band" (2019–2021), the show will feature comedian Jang Do-yeon as its sole host, marking a first for the comedian in this role.
