After achieving resounding success with her chart-topping hit "KNOCK," solo artist and former IZ*ONE member Lee Chae-yeon is poised to enthrall her fans once more with her latest album, "The Move: Street."
Having firmly established herself as the premier dancer of her generation through "KNOCK," Lee Chae-yeon now directs her focus towards sharing the joy of dance with her fans, embodied in her new title track, "LET'S DANCE." This eagerly anticipated release comes a mere five months after her previous sensation.
Speaking during a press interview held in a cafe in Seoul's Mapo District on August 31st, Lee expressed her gratitude for the immense love she received for "KNOCK" and discussed the evolution of her solo career. She stated, "While the new album doesn't represent a radical departure, it reflects my introspection on how I can best satisfy my fans."
"KNOCK" carved an unexpected path to the music charts, securing the 27th spot in Melon's Top 100 chart within just a month of its debut. The track's popularity soared due to Lee's consistently breathtaking performances, where she showcased her exceptional dance prowess on every stage. The "KNOCK" challenge initiated a viral frenzy across various social media platforms, with the challenge video featuring ITZY's Chaeryeong, Lee's younger sister, amassing over 15 million views on YouTube Shorts.
Lee openly acknowledged the pressure that accompanies her latest release, especially after the overwhelming acclaim for her previous track. She shared, "I feel a significant internal drive to deliver even more outstanding performances than before. However, I am committed to bearing this responsibility and showcasing my unwavering dedication on stage."
Her new album, titled "The Move: Street," encapsulates this determination. The title track, "LET'S DANCE," seamlessly blends a medley of dance genres, emphasizing the inclusive message that dance is for everyone. In the accompanying music video, Lee's versatile dancing takes center stage as she effortlessly transitions from graceful ballerina to spirited shuffle dancer in sneakers.
Lee expressed her deep love for dance, stating, "I've discovered that confidence and self-belief are essential for showcasing my charisma on stage. Certainty in myself allows me to fully express my identity, and dancing is where I find that certainty." She continued, "I've realized that my best self shines, and my smile radiates when I'm dancing on stage. The positive energy and genuine radiance that dance evokes form my unique charm."
Within the album, the songs "Intro: Shangri-La" and "Cave" also stand out, reflecting Lee's ability to convey a captivating blend of vibrant and profound emotions. She explained, "These two tracks hold a special place in my heart. In particular, 'Cave' carries significant meaning for me, as it transforms the notion of a cave into a cozy refuge rather than a solitary hiding place, reflecting my recent sentiments."
While recognizing the challenges inherent in her solo journey, Lee Chae-yeon emphasized her pride in her solo artistic path. She spoke fondly of her time in IZ*ONE, which brought her deep friendships and unforgettable memories, but she also expressed the distinct sense of fulfillment that her solo debut has provided.
Her ultimate aim as an artist is clear: "I aspire to bring sheer joy to my fans. As for this album, I am driven by the ambition to secure a spot in Melon's Top 50 as soon as the song is released."
