Released in August 2022 as one of the main tracks from their eponymous debut EP, "Cookie" has garnered praise and was notably listed among the "Best Songs of 2022" by the New York Times. The publication highlighted the song's distinctive quality, describing it as characterized by ease, devoid of maximalism or theatrical elements.

The five-member group has amassed over 3.5 billion streams on the Spotify platform to date, solidifying their presence in the music scene.

In a separate acknowledgment of their success, NewJeans is set to receive the "Group of the Year" award at the 2023 Billboard Women In Music event. This recognition marks a significant achievement for the K-pop girl group, as it will be the first of its kind. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in California on March 6 in the United States.
