ZEROBASEONE leader Sung Hanbin will release his first solo album three years after his debut.
His first EP, “DEAD,” will arrive at 6 p.m. on Oct. 12. The eight-track record follows a character confronting fear and hardship while attempting to move beyond personal limitations.
The album is structured around the phrase “beautiful destruction.” It presents growth as a process of breaking apart an established identity and constructing a new sense of self rather than avoiding pain.
Lead single “UNDEAD” combines a prominent guitar riff with choir arrangements and layered drums. Its lyrics describe a willingness to endure suffering for oneself and another person, developing the album’s central narrative of rising again after collapse.
“Killin’ Me” treats pain as a force for growth, while “Insidious” uses strings and disco elements to portray a relationship that cannot easily be ended. “3AM” introduces another side of the self that emerges after nightfall.
“Bloody Gravity” compares an inescapable attraction to gravity, and “Other Side” follows the act of crossing fear and personal boundaries to enter an unfamiliar world.
The Korean-language track “Flash” addresses Sung’s relationship with his fans, while closing track “Steal the Thunder” expresses the intention to recover light from darkness and awaken another person’s world.
Sung will hold a “CURATING SESSION” at Layer Studio 11 in Seoul’s Mapo district at 8 p.m. on the release day. Combining an exhibition, performance and talk, the event will introduce the album’s narrative and will also be streamed online.
