Krafton, the South Korean gaming giant led by CEO Kim Chang Han, has taken the lead in a $53 million (approximately KRW 77.6 billion) investment round for Cashfree Payments, a major Indian fintech company. This move marks a strategic expansion of Krafton's investment portfolio into India’s rapidly growing digital and financial sectors.

With this investment, Krafton aims to collaborate with Cashfree Payments to develop innovative solutions in India’s gaming and digital economy. The Indian fintech firm specializes in payment processing solutions, including merchant collections, bulk payouts, international transactions, and one-click payments. Since its founding in 2015, the company has processed an estimated $80 billion in annual transactions and has partnered with over 800,000 businesses. Known for its seamless integration with e-commerce platforms, Cashfree Payments enables companies to begin processing transactions within a single day, offering a highly efficient and scalable digital payment infrastructure.

Cashfree Payments CEO Akash Sinha welcomed Krafton as a strategic investor, stating, "We are excited to have Krafton on board. This partnership will allow us to drive innovation in the Indian and global payments markets, expanding our capabilities to better serve businesses and consumers."

Krafton India CEO Son Hyun Il emphasized the rapid growth of India’s fintech sector and Cashfree Payments’ potential in global markets. "We believe Cashfree Payments has the capability to emerge as a leader not only in India but also in the global fintech industry," he said. "This investment aligns with Krafton's ongoing commitment to supporting innovative payment solutions and fostering a dynamic startup ecosystem."

Since 2021, Krafton has been actively investing in emerging markets, particularly in India, as part of its strategy to expand beyond gaming into the broader digital economy. The company has already committed $170 million (approximately KRW 247.5 billion) into India's startup ecosystem, supporting businesses in esports, game streaming, web novels, audio content, social platforms, and game development. With this latest investment in fintech, Krafton has further diversified its strategic partnerships in India.

By strengthening its foothold in India’s digital and financial ecosystems, Krafton is positioning itself at the intersection of technology, gaming, and fintech innovation, paving the way for future synergies in the global market.
