Singer-songwriter Bibi’s new track “Burn It” has been ruled ineligible for broadcast by KBS, the network announced on November 13. According to KBS, the song was disqualified due to the use of profanity, slang, and explicit language in its lyrics. “Burn It” is one of the two tracks from Bibi’s upcoming double single, Derre, set to release on November 14.

When a song is deemed unfit for broadcast, artists can either revise the problematic parts or delete them and submit the track for re-evaluation. Only songs that receive approval in the re-evaluation process are permitted to air on KBS television and radio programs.

Bibi’s Derre project has drawn significant attention ahead of its release, especially for the music video featuring actress Jeon Jong Seo. In addition, “Burn It” includes a collaboration with renowned R&B artist Dean, whose distinctive vocals add depth to the song’s unique style. The track is a romantic piece that explores the longing to possess a heartfelt love, blending Bibi’s and Dean’s expressive vocal styles into a compelling R&B duet. Bibi contributed to both the lyrics and composition of the songs on Derre, showcasing her artistic versatility.

Alongside her music, Bibi has been expanding her career into acting, demonstrating her versatility as an entertainer. She has been cast in Disney+’s original series Gangnam B-Side and SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama The Fiery Priest 2. Her role in these series has been met with positive reactions, highlighting her potential as a multifaceted artist.

Despite the setback from KBS, Bibi’s Derre is expected to resonate strongly with her fanbase. Her daring musical choices and willingness to push boundaries align with her image as a bold and unconventional artist in the industry. The collaboration with Dean further emphasizes her commitment to unique musical expressions and authentic storytelling.

As Bibi continues to make strides in both music and acting, her influence as an artist who challenges norms in the K-pop industry becomes increasingly prominent. The ineligibility of “Burn It” for broadcast may only add to the intrigue surrounding her new release, as fans eagerly anticipate experiencing the raw and unfiltered artistry she offers.
