SM Entertainment, one of the biggest powerhouses in the South Korean music industry, announced on Wednesday the launch of a novel website, KWANGYA 119. The site represents a fresh move towards safeguarding the rights of SM artists, reflecting the firm's dedication to artist protection under its SM 3.0 growth strategy.
Divided into various sections, KWANGYA 119 enables users to file reports concerning defamation, ticket scalping, and copyright infringements related to the company's artists. Users may also submit suggestions or queries about SM services. Each submitted ticket is timestamped and publicly displayed on the website, facilitating transparency and easy tracking.
Within the defamation section, users can specifically report instances of misinformation and fake news, addressing the growing concerns about false information affecting artists. To lodge a report, users simply provide a subject, title, and description of the issue, along with relevant evidence like links, IP addresses, and images.
In response to the increasing issues of online abuse, privacy invasions, and misinformation targeting artists, SM Entertainment is set to take stern legal measures, if required, following a review of the reports received on KWANGYA 119. To support this, the company entered into an agreement with the law firm Shin & Kim LLC in March.
The new platform also aims to counter illicit ticket sales and bolster copyright protection, with the broader goal of fostering a transparent and fair fan community. The company plans to collaborate with concert organizers and ticketing agencies to confront ticket scalping. A section dedicated to this concern on KWANGYA 119 is expected to be operational once final preparations are complete.
Furthermore, the copyright infringement report section will provide an avenue for users to report any unauthorized distribution of copyright-protected music, videos, and other artist content.
SM Entertainment's dedication to hearing from its fans is embodied in the suggestions board, which enables fans to report any discrepancies concerning artists' albums, merchandise, images, and videos. Fans are also encouraged to share innovative ideas or suggestions for the betterment of the artists and the company.
By implementing KWANGYA 119, SM Entertainment is showing its commitment not only to protect its artists but also to establish a more robust connection with its fan communities, ensuring a safe and mutually beneficial environment for artists and fans alike.
