Colin Aherne and Eveline Moczko have announced the launch of the Sonntag Grant, a groundbreaking annual grant program designed to support photographers from underrepresented gender identities. The new initiative specifically targets FLINTA photographers, which includes women, lesbian, intersex, non-binary, transgender, and agender individuals working in the field of photography.
The grant program will provide substantial financial and professional support to selected artists. Each year, one photographer will receive $3,000 to develop and pursue their creative project. This funding aims to give artists the necessary resources, time, and visibility to advance their work and careers in the competitive photography industry.
The application process has been structured with a clear timeline for interested photographers. Applications will be accepted from September 1st through October 31st annually, providing a two-month window for submissions. This schedule allows photographers ample time to prepare their applications and project proposals.
Colin Aherne expressed enthusiasm about the new grant program's potential impact on the photography community. "We believe this is a fantastic opportunity for photographers and are working to make it widely known," Aherne stated. The founders are actively promoting the grant to ensure it reaches its intended audience of FLINTA photographers who could benefit from this support.
As a newly established organization, the Sonntag Grant founders are seeking additional support to expand their reach and impact. They acknowledge their status as a small, new non-profit organization and are working to build partnerships and awareness within the photography community. Interested photographers and supporters can find comprehensive information about the grant at sonntag-grant.org, and the organization maintains an active presence on Instagram to share updates and connect with the photography community.
