Ghanaian-British architect David Adjaye has finished a new 6,000-square-foot arts incubator in Accra named dot Ateliers. Backed by artist Amoako Boafo’s Amoako Foundation, the facility offers studio space, exhibition areas and workshops for emerging creatives in West Africa.

The single-story structure is cast in earth-toned concrete that references local soil and traditional earthen buildings. Inside, high ceilings and pivoting panels allow artists to reconfigure rooms for painting, sculpture or multimedia projects. A shaded courtyard and gardens provide communal space and natural cooling.

Boafo says the goal is simple: give artists “space, materials and freedom to experiment.” The project opened in 2023 and is expected to host its first public exhibitions this year.
