Jimin, a member of the globally renowned South Korean boy band BTS, is set to make history as the first Korean artist to feature on an original soundtrack for the "Fast & Furious" movie franchise. Universal Pictures, the distributor of the franchise, announced on Wednesday that Jimin will sing the main song on the soundtrack for the upcoming movie "Fast X," also known as "Fast & Furious 10."

The song, titled "Angel Pt.1," is a collaboration between American hip-hop artist Kodak Black and rapper NLE Choppa, with Jimin serving as the vocalist. The teaser video for the soundtrack was released on Tuesday, with the full music video set to drop on May 18.

"Fast X" is set to open in Korea on May 17, marking the film's first global release, with North American audiences getting the chance to see the film two days later on May 19. The movie depicts the final run of Dom, played by Vin Diesel, a former criminal and professional street racer who had previously settled down with his family but gets called back to the street racing scene again. The film is directed by Louis Leterrier, known for his work on popular films like "The Incredible Hulk" and "Now You See Me."

Previous "Fast & Furious" films have performed well at the Korean box office, with the eighth film "The Fate of the Furious" garnering 3.6 million viewers and "F9" attracting 2.3 million viewers. "F9" was also the highest-grossing film at the global box office during the pandemic, with $681.5 million in ticket sales.

Jimin's inclusion on the "Fast & Furious" soundtrack comes on the heels of his recent success with his first official album "Face," which topped Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart with its lead track "Like Crazy." He made history as the first solo K-pop star to top the chart.

The announcement has generated excitement among fans of both BTS and the "Fast & Furious" franchise, with many taking to social media to express their enthusiasm for Jimin's historic inclusion on the soundtrack. As K-pop continues to make waves in the global music industry, Jimin's participation in "Fast X" is yet another milestone for Korean artists and their growing influence on the world stage.
