Members of the popular K-pop girl group NewJeans have each submitted petitions in support of Min Hee-jin, the CEO of their agency Ador, amidst a legal battle with HYBE, Ador's parent company. The five members — Danielle, Minji, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein — filed their petitions on Friday, coinciding with the first hearing on the injunction sought by Min.
Min is seeking to prevent HYBE, which holds an 80 percent stake in Ador, from exercising its voting rights at a shareholders' meeting scheduled for May 31. The agenda for the meeting includes the dismissal of Min and other Ador board members, and the appointment of new directors from HYBE. Min argues that HYBE's move violates the shareholders' contract between the two parties.
Details of the petitions from the NewJeans members have not been made public. However, sources indicate that the members, known to have a close relationship with Min, and their parents, are supporting the Ador CEO in this corporate conflict. This marks the first public stance by the members regarding the dispute.
The outcome of the court's decision on the injunction and the upcoming shareholders' meeting will determine the future leadership of Ador and potentially impact NewJeans' management and activities.
