Singapore Recognizes 20 Outstanding Architecture Professionals Under 40 for 2025

Singapore Business Review has announced its list of the most notable architecture professionals under 40 for 2025, following an extensive review of submissions from more than 25 architecture firms across the city-state. The selection includes 20 professionals - eight women and 12 men - representing nine leading architectural firms in Singapore.

The honorees come from prestigious firms including Aedas, CPG Consultants Pte Ltd, DP Architects Pte Ltd, HYLA Architects Pte Ltd, JGP Architecture (S) Pte Ltd, ONGONG Pte Ltd, RSP Architects Planners & Engineers, SAA Architects Pte Ltd, and Swan & Maclaren Architects Pte Ltd. DP Architects leads with six representatives on the list, while the youngest honoree comes from ONGONG Pte Ltd.

This year's honorees have been instrumental in designing and managing major projects across Singapore's architectural landscape. Their portfolio includes significant developments such as Woodlands North Station, JTC Bulim Square, Paya Lebar Green, The Golden Mile, Marina One, Hotel Faber Park, Minion Land in Universal Studios Singapore, and Hyll on Holland. Notably, two of the honorees are actively involved in the highly anticipated Changi Airport Terminal 5 project, which broke ground in May.

The list showcases a commitment to sustainable design, featuring two Green Mark Accredited Professionals (GMAP) among the honorees. These professionals demonstrate expertise in environmentally conscious architecture that aligns with Singapore's green building initiatives and sustainability goals.

Among the youngest honorees is Ryan Teo Jun Yan, 30, from ONGONG Pte Ltd, whose diverse portfolio spans public and private sectors with a focus on practical, sustainable, and community-friendly designs. His most meaningful project is the Pathlight School (Tampines), a campus for special needs children that combines accessibility with inclusivity. Lim Yih Xi, also 30, from Swan & Maclaren Architects, served as Project Architect for St Andrews Community Hospital (Bedok) and is currently developing an immersive cinema experience for Shaw Theatres at JEM.

DP Architects is well-represented with several notable professionals, including Wu Wenwei, 30, who advocates for design approaches balancing innovation, sustainability, and cultural sensitivity. His expertise includes hospitality landmarks like Pullman Singapore Hill Street and Pullman Singapore Orchard, plus international projects in Vietnam and Indonesia. Timothy Ou, 31, utilizes cutting-edge technology including BIM to enhance creativity and productivity, with key projects including Paya Lebar Green and work on the F1 Singapore Grand Prix facilities.

The healthcare and infrastructure sectors are strongly represented through professionals like Muhammad Fadzli Bin Jani, 32, from RSP Architects Planners & Engineers, who is working on the upcoming Changi Airport Terminal 5 and Mandai's Indoor Attraction Buildings. As a Green Mark Accredited Professional, Fadzli drives sustainability and industry innovation while maintaining leadership positions in community organizations.

Several honorees demonstrate expertise in mixed-use and residential developments. David Ardiansyah, 32, from DP Architects, has completed projects including The Verandah Residences, Affinity at Serangoon, and Boulevard 88, while also contributing to the ongoing rejuvenation of The Golden Mile. Khor Wanxuan, 32, also from DP Architects, specializes in adaptive reuse and community-focused design, playing an instrumental role in The Golden Mile's transformation.

The educational sector benefits from the expertise of professionals like Lee Qiao Yan, 33, from CPG Consultants, who focuses on creating meaningful learning environments through projects like the Singapore American School Campus Upgrading Project and Anderson Serangoon Junior College redevelopment. Her work demonstrates a passion for designing spaces that inspire and nurture future generations.

International experience is evident among the honorees, with professionals like Chen Yili, 34, from DP Architects, who combines large-scale master planning expertise with projects spanning from Singapore's Hotel Faber Park to Qatar's Lusail Commercial Boulevard. The hospitality and entertainment sectors are represented through innovative projects like Universal Studios Singapore's Minion Land expansion, led by Fei Bo, 35, from RSP Architects Planners & Engineers. Her decade of experience in architecture and urban design has contributed to various retail, recreational, and residential projects that serve Singapore's diverse communities.

Sustainability leadership is exemplified by professionals like Frederick Low, 35, from DP Architects, who holds a master's degree in Sustainability Management from Columbia University. His work spans multiple scales from master planning to integrated hubs, including projects like Bukit Canberra and the NUS Land Optimisation Master Plan, while actively advancing the firm's sustainability efforts.

The healthcare sector continues to evolve through the contributions of professionals like Yoga Utomo, 36, from CPG Consultants, who serves as a certified Universal Design Assessor working on the Eastern General Hospital Campus project. His human-centric approach balances functionality, inclusivity, and community well-being in large-scale public sector developments.

High-end residential design is showcased through Nicholas Shane Oen Gomes, 36, Director of HYLA Architects, who continues the firm's 30-year legacy in landed housing with inventive form and materials. His portfolio of more than 20 high-end houses, including Cloister House and Heaven & Earth House, offers distinct responses to tropical living that regularly feature in architectural media.

The list includes professionals with extensive international experience, such as Rovi Lau, 37, from Aedas, whose nearly decade-long career spans healthcare, institutional, and mixed-use projects across Singapore and Vietnam. His completed projects include the International French School Singapore expansion and various high-end developments at Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort.

Infrastructure development expertise is demonstrated by Lee Hyo Sun, 37, from SAA Architects, who serves as the regulatory lead for the Changi Airport Terminal 5AB project. With over 13 years of experience, her portfolio includes landmark projects like Marina One, the National University of Singapore's E7 Engineering & Medicine research facility, and the Singtel Waterfront Theatre.

The international scope of Singapore's architectural influence is evident through professionals like Xue Wencan, 38, from Aedas, whose 12-year career spans Singapore, China, and other countries. His completed projects include Hyll on Holland, asset enhancement initiatives for Aperia Mall, and educational facilities like One World International School in Punggol.

Healthcare specialization is represented by Tony Hartono Wijaya Zhang, 38, Senior Associate & Deputy Studio Master at JGP Architecture, who has over 13 years of experience across Singapore and Hong Kong. As an integral member of JGP's Healthcare Team, he has been actively involved in numerous MOH Nursing Homes across Singapore, from Aljunied Road to Dover Road, demonstrating expertise in specialized healthcare architecture.
