Photographer François Roy discovered this firsthand during his recent vacation to the French capital.

Walking an average of 20 kilometers per day through Paris's winding streets and boulevards, Roy found himself constantly drawn to capture the city's iconic scenes. Armed only with his iPhone and no specific assignment, the photographer couldn't resist documenting the stunning clichéd views that make Paris one of the world's most photographed cities. His impromptu photo series showcases both the classic tourist attractions and the everyday life that gives the city its authentic charm.

Roy's collection includes a diverse range of Parisian scenes, from the bustling tourist areas to quiet moments of daily life. One striking image captures pigeons taking flight near the Canal Saint-Martin, while another shows a man walking past the deserted Louvre Museum just before opening time, ahead of the arrival of tourist buses. Remarkably, this particular photo was taken just one day before a robbery at the museum that made international headlines.

The photographer also documented Paris's weather and urban rhythm through candid street photography. One image shows a woman checking her phone in the rain near the Franklin D. Roosevelt metro station, close to the famous Champs-Élysées boulevard. Another captures a sunny break in the Luxembourg Gardens, with visitors relaxing in front of the Luxembourg Palace, demonstrating how Parisians and tourists alike seek out these green spaces in the heart of the city.

Roy's series also highlights Paris's commitment to sustainable transportation and its iconic infrastructure. The popular Vélib' bike-sharing system features prominently, with one photo showing a cyclist on Rue Rivoli, positioned between Place de la Concorde and the Louvre Museum. The photographer captured a Sunday view of the Léopold-Sédar-Senghor footbridge spanning the Seine River, showcasing the peaceful atmosphere that descends on the city during weekends.
