In a statement released on Friday, JYP Entertainment confirmed that Stray Kids, an eight-member group, has set a new standard in K-pop sales. Their latest album, titled "Five-Star," has not only garnered immense attention prior to its release, with over 5.13 million units sold in pre-orders, but it has also exceeded expectations by breaking records for first-week sales. This achievement dethrones Seventeen, whose 10th EP "FML" previously held the record with 4.55 million copies sold in April.
The immense popularity of Stray Kids is evident through their consistent success. Their previous album, the EP "Maxident," released last year, surpassed 3 million in sales and even secured the coveted No. 1 position on the prestigious Billboard 200 chart. Amidst their unprecedented achievements, Stray Kids will also host their third fan meet event in Seoul on July 1st and 2nd. The second day of the event will be broadcast live, allowing fans from around the world to partake in the celebration.
