Netflix Korea has officially announced the premiere date for the much-anticipated horror thriller series, "Gyeongseong Creature," scheduled to release on December 22. The series will be divided into two parts, with the first seven episodes titled "Gyeongseong Creature Part 1" and the remaining three episodes set to be released on January 5.
Directed by Jung Dong-yoon, known for the successful Korean TV drama "Hot Stove League" in 2019, and written by "Dr. Romantic" screenwriter Kang Eun-kyung, "Gyeongseong Creature" is set against the backdrop of South Korea in the spring of 1945 during the Japanese colonial period. The storyline revolves around two young individuals fighting for survival against unusual creatures spawned from human greed.
The star-studded cast includes actor Park Seo-joon, known for his roles in "Fight for My Way" (2017), "What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim" (2018), and "Itaewon Class" (2020), portraying the character Jang Tae-sang, a wealthy entrepreneur. Actress Han So-hee, who made her Netflix debut in "My Name" in 2021, takes on the role of Yoon Chae-ok, a renowned sleuth.
The ensemble cast also features veteran actors such as Kim Hae-sook, Claudia Kim, Cho Han-cheul, and Wi Ha-jun, known for their roles in various acclaimed productions.
Noteworthy is Netflix's early announcement of the series' second season in November 2022, ahead of the premiere of the first season, underscoring the streaming service's confidence in the show's potential success.
"Gyeongseong Creature Part 1" is poised to deliver a unique blend of horror and action when it becomes available to viewers on December 22.
