Thirty-four students from Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University participated in an immersive Korean cultural experience program at the Korea Cultural Center (KCC) in Thailand on August 8. The educational field trip was designed to provide Thai students with hands-on exposure to various aspects of traditional and contemporary Korean culture.
The students began their visit by exploring the "Production Design: Scene Architects Build On-Screen World" exhibition, which is currently on display at the Korea Cultural Center. This exhibition showcases the intricate work behind Korean film and television production design, offering visitors insight into how on-screen worlds are created and visualized.
Following the exhibition tour, the students engaged in a variety of traditional Korean activities that allowed them to experience the country's rich cultural heritage firsthand. They participated in classic Korean games including Tuho, a traditional arrow-throwing game where players attempt to throw arrows into a narrow-necked jar; Ddakjichigi, a paper-flipping game similar to the Western game of Pogs; and Jegichagi, a traditional shuttlecock kicking game that requires skill and balance.
The cultural immersion continued as students had the opportunity to try on hanbok, Korea's traditional clothing, and pose for photographs while wearing these elegant garments. The hanbok experience provided students with a tangible connection to Korean history and fashion traditions, allowing them to appreciate the craftsmanship and aesthetic principles of traditional Korean attire.
As part of the hands-on cultural workshop, participants also created traditional Korean-style decorative plates using hanji, Korea's traditional handmade paper known for its durability and beauty. This craft activity introduced students to Korean artistic techniques and the cultural significance of hanji in Korean society, where it has been used for centuries in various applications from art to architecture.
The Korea Cultural Center expressed hopes that this comprehensive cultural field trip would create lasting positive memories for all participants and foster greater understanding and appreciation of Korean culture among Thai students. Such educational programs serve as important bridges for cultural exchange and help strengthen the relationship between Korea and Thailand through people-to-people connections.
