Controversial Pre-release Track Raises Eyebrows Ahead of Group's Second Full-length Album Release

KBS, the national broadcaster, declared (G)I-DLE's latest song "Wife" unsuitable for broadcasting in a report released on Wednesday, citing explicit lyrics as the reason. The song, released as a prelude to the group's upcoming second full-length album, "2," dropped on Monday with member Soyeon contributing to its production.

In addition to "Wife," the B-side track "Rollie," slated for release on January 29 along with the album, also faced disapproval from KBS. The rejection was based on the song mentioning a specific brand name.

Neither (G)I-DLE nor its agency, Cube Entertainment, have issued comments or statements regarding the broadcasting decision.

(G)I-DLE, debuting in May 2018 under Cube Entertainment, consists of five members: Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi, and Shuhua. The group has delivered notable hits, including "Latata" (2018), "Tomboy" (2022), "Nxde" (2022), and "Queencard" (2023).

The impending release of (G)I-DLE's second full-length album, "2," on January 29 marks their first full-length album in nearly two years.
