The spotlight of the 2023 Global Citizen Festival, set to take place in New York's iconic Central Park on September 23, will shine brightly on Jungkook, a prominent member of the global sensation BTS.
The Global Citizen Festival, an annual music extravaganza organized by the international civic group Global Citizen, based in New York, has a unique twist: fans can secure their tickets by taking actions that contribute to the fight against extreme poverty. Since its inception in 2012, the festival has served as a platform to raise awareness about critical issues such as extreme poverty, famine, and climate change.
BTS, the chart-topping K-pop phenomenon, has been a staunch supporter of Global Citizen's mission. In 2021, they contributed a memorable prerecorded performance of their hits "Permission to Dance" and "Butter" at Seoul's iconic Sungnyemun gate for the Global Citizen Live event.
In an historic moment, Jungkook will become the first K-pop solo artist to headline the festival. Joining him on the festival's star-studded lineup are acclaimed acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lauryn Hill.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the event, Jungkook stated in a press release, "I am really excited to perform at the Global Citizen Festival as a headliner. I am happy to be part of a festival that has a good motive. I am looking forward to performing at the festival," underlining his commitment to the festival's mission of social change through music.
