Art enthusiasts across Southeast Asia will have an unprecedented opportunity to experience French Impressionist masterpieces when the National Gallery Singapore opens its doors to the region's largest exhibition of this iconic art movement. The exhibition, titled "Into the Modern: Impressionism From the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston," will showcase more than 100 original Impressionist works, marking the first time these particular pieces have been displayed in Southeast Asia.
Scheduled to run from November 14, 2025, through March 1, 2026, the exhibition will be housed in the Singtel Special Exhibition Gallery, which serves as the National Gallery Singapore's modern art wing. The collaboration with Boston's Museum of Fine Arts brings together works from one of the world's most significant collections of Impressionist art, offering visitors an extraordinary chance to view masterpieces by legendary artists including Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Edgar Degas.
A highlight of the exhibition will be 17 works by Claude Monet, featuring some of his most celebrated and recognizable subjects. Visitors will be able to admire his iconic depictions of grainstacks, vibrant poppy fields, and the famous Japanese-style bridge from his beloved garden in Giverny. These pieces represent some of the most important examples of Monet's revolutionary approach to capturing light and atmosphere that helped define the Impressionist movement.
The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, which is partnering with the National Gallery Singapore for this remarkable exhibition, is internationally recognized for housing one of the world's most comprehensive and significant collections of Impressionist artwork. This collaboration represents a major cultural exchange that brings world-class art to Southeast Asian audiences who might otherwise need to travel internationally to experience these masterpieces.
Ticketing for "Into the Modern" has been structured to make the exhibition accessible to both local and international visitors. Singaporeans and permanent residents can purchase tickets for S$15, while tourists and foreign residents will pay S$25 for entry. However, members of the National Gallery Singapore's Gallery Insiders program will enjoy unlimited free access to all exhibitions at the gallery, including this special Impressionist showcase.
The Gallery Insiders membership program offers exceptional value for art lovers, with annual memberships priced at S$20 for Singaporeans and permanent residents, and S$35 per year for non-residents. This membership not only provides free access to "Into the Modern" but also grants unlimited entry to all other exhibitions throughout the year at the National Gallery Singapore, making it an attractive option for frequent visitors and serious art enthusiasts.
This exhibition represents a significant cultural milestone for Southeast Asia's art scene, bringing together masterpieces that have rarely traveled outside major Western museums. The presentation of these Impressionist works in Singapore underscores the city-state's growing importance as a regional cultural hub and its commitment to making world-class art accessible to diverse audiences across Southeast Asia.
